A customer brief rooted in simplicity

Moulton Bulb’s brief to IPP is a straightforward one: keep things simple. In a fast-moving supply chain where quality and reliability is key, Moulton Bulb needs a relationship which just works – and one where support is available whenever it is needed.

IPP supplies Moulton Bulb with around 120,000 pallets annually, a figure which has doubled over the last five years. This helps Moulton Bulb ensure its quality products reach its customers reliably, and supermarket shelves remain well stocked.

Providing quality pallets through a closed pallet pooling system

The quality sustainable wooden pallets Moulton Bulb receives through IPP keep its products moving safely and sustainably through the supply chain.

IPP’s closed pallet pooling system ensures:
•    Operational costs are reduced.
•    Product flows are optimised during peak periods via advanced forecasting and planning.
•    Waste and unnecessary miles are reduced.
•    Flexibility and responsiveness are included as standard.

Supporting the growth of a family business

Moulton Bulb aims to continue growing, securing a larger share of the markets it operates in and bringing on additional retail customers along the way.

Robert Oldershaw, Director of Moulton Bulb, said: “Moulton Bulb is a family business and we've been packing onions since 1979. My grandfather originally started the business as a growing operation. We also process produce on this site, and we're using IPP pallets for our processed customers as well.

“We pack around 1,600 to 1,700 tonnes a week for a range of supermarket retailers, so we've grown considerably over the years we've been working with IPP.

“I think it's the simplicity of the relationship that's key. Pallets are, in many ways, a commodity product – you simply need them to work. The simpler the process, the better. Our relationship with IPP just flows in the background and works seamlessly.”
