Reinforcing circularity, transparency and sustainability this World Environment Day
04 June 2025World Environment Day 2025 is a reminder that sustainability must be more than ambition – it must be actionable, visible, and accountable. At IPP, this is embedded in how we operate every single day. From the way we design our pooling network to the choices we make around efficiency and reuse, our closed-loop pooling model already reflects the values that World Environment Day promotes: reducing environmental impact, prioritising reuse over waste, and designing systems that keep resources in use longer.
With the introduction of the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the logistics industry is facing a new standard for traceability and reporting of how reusable transport packaging performs over time.
IPP is not starting from scratch. We’re building on what’s already in place. In partnership with Connected Load Carrier (CLC), we’re enhancing our ability to capture and report the impact of our system. CLC enhances our closed-loop operations with their IoT-as-a-Service solution, providing the tools to make performance visible, data-driven and scalable.
What CLC delivers in practice:
Traceability from day one
By equipping a growing number of our pallets with IoT technology and linking them to an intuitive, centralised system, we enable increased visibility across our network. With movements tracked in real time, IPP is able to gain detailed insights into usage, location and circulation time. This allows IPP to strengthen our alignment with PPWR traceability requirements while reinforcing day-to-day operational efficiency.
Structured data, not assumptions With CLC, manual exports and disconnected spreadsheets are a thing of the past. Structured reporting ensures our pooling model remains transparent and measurable, showing not only that assets are being reused - but exactly how and when.
Smarter flows, lower environmental impact
By engaging with the data provided through CLC-equipped load carriers, we’re able to better identify underutilised stock or transport bottlenecks. This insight allows us to optimise our flows, reduce unnecessary movements and minimise carbon emissions. In doing so, we lower our operational footprint while increasing the actual reuse rate of pallets – actively driving down our footprint and accelerating our sustainability goals.
Shared value across the chain
The benefits of traceability aren’t limited to our own operations. Through CLC, our customers gain access to real-time visibility of their pallet usage, returns and rotation cycles. Thanks to our partnership with CLC, we enable customers to align more easily with the expectations set by the PPWR.
“At IPP, circularity isn’t a future ambition - it’s how we operate. The PPWR makes clear that companies can't just talk about sustainability – they need to be able to show it in real measurable ways. Integrating Connected Load Carrier into our products results in significant improvements in our ability to track, measure and demonstrate exactly how our system performs - down to each pallet, every day. CLC represents a major step forward in managing supply chains and bringing companies into alignment with the goals of the PPWR.”

World Environment Day 2025 – and every day
IPP operates with circularity at the heart of its business, through a closed-loop pooling model designed to reduce waste, maximise reuse, and improve supply chain efficiency across Europe. As World Environment Day reminds us, sustainability must be more than a principle – it must be demonstrated through real-world action. With the support of Connected Load Carrier, at IPP we are enhancing our ability to track, optimise and communicate that impact, providing the traceability and visibility needed to turn our model into measurable results. At IPP, this isn’t just about aligning with regulation. It’s about leading with purpose, delivering smarter logistics, and carrying impact in everything we do.
